UPGRADED INSURANCE SERVICES OFFICE (ISO) RATING FIRE PROTECTION-CLASS 3
On August 27, 2002, the Insurance Services Office (ISO) conducted a survey of Lighthouse Point’s Fire Protection Services. In November 22, 2002, ISO announced that the Public Protection Classification for the City of Lighthouse Point was upgraded from Class 4 to Class 3.
The Insurance Services Office (ISO) surveys communities and provides a numerical rating from 1-10 based on the fire protection services provided by a community. A ranking of 1 is the highest and 10 the lowest. Most insurers use the Public Protection Classification rating system for underwriting and calculating premiums for residential, commercial, and industrial properties. This rating positively affects the fire insurance premium rates in a community.
According to the ISO, only 4.3% of communities nation-wide have a rating of Class 1, 2, or 3. Therefore, Lighthouse Point is rated by ISO in the top 5% in the nation in providing fire protection services.
